“The reputation of the Monteith family has been stained for 702 years by the fact that Sir John de Menteith turned in William Wallace in 1305. It was in fact John Stewart born in Ruskie, Scotland, son of the 5th Earl of Monteith, Walter Stewart. Later in life John Stewart assumed the name John De Menteith and under that name turned in Wallace, thus causing the Menteith name to carry that black stain for all these years.”
