James “Al” Bullman has been a student of things Scottish for decades. He was created a chevalier of the Grand Priory of Scotland
in 1991. He was elected a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries (Scotland) in 1989. He is a past member of the board of the Council of Scottish Clans and
Associations (COSCA) and a past member of the board Of Clan Rose. He is also a past member of the board of the Scottish Tartans Society, USA, and the USA
Scottish Games Chairman of the STS. He is a lecturer at the college level on Scottish history and the history of Tartans. He is the founder of the original
Scottish District Families Association In 1988.
He is also a past vice-principal chief of the Echota Band of the Cherokee Indians in Alabama. He was once the ”honored chief” of the Scottish
games in Cedar City, Utah. He was a member of “Teallach’s Tail” for the late Dr. D. Gordon Teall, Barron of Huntly and Laird of Teallach.
He now resides in Franklin, NC, where he does volunteer work for the Scottish Tartans Museum.
Al has recently completed writing THE UNCLAIMED AND UNNAMED TARTANS. He is also co-author of THE COMPENDIUM OF DISTRICT TARTANS.
